You are invited to the FYP x NaFFAA Charity Happy Hour for our Filipino WWII Veterans!
It will be held this July 20th, 2017, at CAPITALEdc (1301 K St NW #103, Washington, DC 20005) from 6:30pm – 10pm.
The Filipino Young Professionals of DC and the National Federation of Filipino American Associations Region 2, are hosting a summer fundraiser for the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project. The purpose of our fundraiser is to raise money for the purchase of replica Congressional Gold Medals to be presented to the surviving WWII veterans or their families.
100% of the proceeds from bar sales and donations will be going to FilVetRep and every little bit you can donate helps. Please think of attending the event and donating to the cause. Our veterans who paved the way for us today with their lives deserve the recognition that has been overdue to them for over 70 years.
We cannot continue to let our veterans close their eyes for the last time without them receiving the recognition they deserve.
Please help us give our veterans the recognition they deserve and also help contribute to the preservation of our shared history by attending our event. Invite other community leaders, organizations, veterans, and supporters of our cause to the event. Thank you for your help and we hope to see you soon!

Come meet the fresh Executive Board for FYP. Christal, John, Stephanie, Walbert, and Nicky are going to be leading the charge this year! Additionally, we are thrilled to have two special guests sharing their stories at our event:
- Patrice Cleary, owner of Purple Patch (our favorite restaurant!), is one of our special guests. After spending 8 years in the Marine Corps, Patrice turned her passion for cooking into reality by opening Purple Patch. The restaurant has garnered many accolades, including being named in the Fall Dining Guide as Tom Sietsma’s top 37 restaurants to dine in DC, it is also Tablelog’s top 9 Filipino restaurants in America. And it holds the distinction of being the first Filipino restaurant in Washington, DC.
- Sonny Busa, Consul General, is the Filipino Veteran Recognition and Education Project (FilVetREP) regional director for Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia. He is tasked with organizing support and fundraising for FilVetREP initiatives and programs. Sonny Busa recently retired from the US Department of State with the rank of Consul General after 25 years of distinguished service at overseas postings in Honduras, Korea, Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Kuwait. Latin America.
We are truly honored to bring these two prominent Filipino leaders to our members and friends. To learn more about Patrice Clearly and Sonny Busa, join us at the Habit at Purple Patch, February 16th, 6 P.M. We will have drink specials and lumpia (while it lasts) for attendees.
(Suggested donation of $10; $20 gets you a year long membership.)
Also, we will have a sweepstakes only for those whose status is ‘GOING’ on Facebook—perhaps a dessert, a drink, or a free membership. Good Luck! 🙂
